How color affects mood

 

Do you feel anxious in a yellow room? Does the color blue make you relaxed or at peace? The power of colors in the human psyche has been universally accepted for a long time. The effects that color produce to people can be explained to be due to their natural and psychological (cultural) symbolisms. Though color symbolism can mean something differently to every individual, natural and psychological association of colors help us understand why some shades and hues have a strong effect to our moods.

Colors on the blue side of the spectrum are known as cool colors and include blue, purple and green. These colors are often described as calm, but can also call to mind feelings of sadness or indifference.

So what’s the bottom line? Experts have found that while color can have an influence on how we feel and act, these effects are subject to personal, cultural, and situational factors.
